Lisa Oliver has redeemed the kraken for me. I had been kind of unhappy with that creature since The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Lisa shows it being subject to Poseidon, as it should be, not Davy Jones. Much better.This book and its predecessor are light-hearted romps through Greek mythology, which I read incessantly when I was a pre-teen and early teens, back a million years ago. It's a delight to revisit the ancient Greeks. One does not think of the gods as having the problems of normal human beings, but sometimes they do. How Claude, an alpha wolf shifter, and Poseidon, the god of the seas, work out their mating misunderstandings is handled more intelligently in this book than I have seen them done in some other series books of other authors. These misunderstandings are not due to stupidity, but to two worlds not meshing immediately, and the two proud men not being the kind who talk it out. I look forward to future volumes. Rating: 4 stars I loved this book and I feel like Ms. Oliver has gotten her mojo back. I loved both Poseidon and Claude as the main characters. I really liked how although Claude was the alpha of his pack, he wasn't perfect and was willing to admit to mistakes and make the changes needed to improve his pack. Poseidon started out as a superficial and somewhat annoying character, but throughout the story you become aware of why he is like he is and you root for him as he becomes a better individual. If you are a fan of this series, I highly recommend this one. If you haven't read any of the others in the series, you do not have to read the first one in this spin-off series. The two books aren't really related. While not a 100% necessary, I would suggest you read: "On The Brink (The Cloverleah Pack Book 12)" prior to this book as it will give some back story to Poseidon.
