Sloane has once again hit it out of the park. Watch Me took a well used trope and put a modern spin on it.Nikolai, or Nik, has been tasked by his best friend and boss, Mike, to accept a position on his current contract. This is a literal make or break contract for Mike and the person that the are supposed to be protecting has ditched and even paid off the last two people.Jude, the protectee, is an intense individual. He doesn't believe that he needs protection, therefore does everything to ditch the guards. Nik and Jude get off to a rocky start and really doesn't smooth out.Nik finds that the more he is around Jude, the more he discovers how unique he is and that his initial assessment was wrong. Jude isn't trying to ignore or piss most people off, he just is wired to think and process things a bit differently.Sloane takes Jude's diagnosis of ADHD and Dyslexia and relates real life experiences. She is sensitive to the discussion but doesn’t try to sugarcoat the situations and experiences.This is a Definite 5-star read. and would recommend. SK is a very good writer, lots of feels, lots of description, but I find her series too dark for me. (An exception would be the Pelican Bay series which she co-writes and which I recommend as well.)Anyway, I thought this was a very good read. I've look back at her other stand-alone titles and know that I really liked those as well. Good main characters, really liked the love Nik has for his family and that they were brought into the story. Jude's difficulties handling life were not too much and there was no miracle cure for his difficulties. Just a great read!
